Hey! I’m Nick.

I’m a Nashville-based bassist, playback engineer, and music director passionate about helping artists create better live shows.

My career began as a bassist in Nashville, where I noticed a common challenge: everyone wanted to use playback in their shows, but not many people knew how to make it work for them creatively. Instead, playback often felt like a hurdle rather than a tool.

During one rehearsal, I got fed up with playback entirely and said “let me give this a try.”

In that moment, I decided to dive into the world of playback myself, determined to turn it into a seamless, artist-driven experience.

Since then, I’ve dedicated my career to mastering Ableton Live and integrating it into live performances in a way that enhances, not hinders, the artist’s vision. As Playback Director for the music direction company Built Music, I designed and optimized playback sessions for over 20 clients and trained band members to run them effectively. I also took on the role of music director for several clients, building their entire live shows from the ground up.

Eventually, I broke into the touring world as a dedicated playback engineer, working with some of my favorite artists and gaining invaluable experience. My journey has taken me around the world, collaborating with a wide variety of clients—from artists preparing for their first live shows, to churches looking to enhance their Sunday services, to seasoned touring acts and crazy live-looping performances.

When I’m not on the road, I focus on sharing the knowledge I’ve gained. I offer one-on-one coaching sessions, teaching artists and musicians how to confidently use Ableton in their live shows. I’m also developing an online course to make this knowledge accessible to even more people.

While my career has taken many exciting turns, my mission remains the same: to help artists create unforgettable live shows.
